The Axis or Chital deer is a wide known variety of deer and the most common deer species in Southeast Asia, ranging from Sir Lanka and India into Bangladesh into Vietnam and into China. Its binominal name is Axis Axis, it is a member of Genus Axis, subfamily Cervinae, family Cervidae, the order Artiodactyla, the class Mammalia, the phylum Chordata, and the kingdom Animalia.
This animal would be greatly affected by global warming as that its range is I evergreen forests and grass lands. If global warming on top of human deforestation were to end their current range, they would likely move north or cease to exist all together. They are grazers relying on grasses for grazing. In the case of global warming changing the layout of the current environment this animal would lose its native grazing areas. This animal is easily transferable as that non-native herds live all over with one of the largest living in Texas here in the U
nited States. Bio prospectors would probably benefit from this as that the animal is very prolific and breeds twice a year having up to two offspring. This animal could be used for both its meat as well as the hide. Axis deer are 99.8%lean naturally and would be a healthy replacement in any diet for fattier beef.
Currently they are listed of least concern in the world today. Though local populations have gone extinct, the Axis is still present in very large numbers all over the world. The local extinctions have taken place thanks too over hunting in those areas as well as competition with domestic livestock. Even in areas where they do exist, they are widely below ecological carrying capacity.
